Tennessee fans don’t have the fondest memories of Nathan Peterman from his time in Knoxville. Similarly, Peterman likely would prefer forgetting about his short stint playing for the Vols as well.

In his two seasons at Tennessee, Peterman played in 11 games, and was 20-of-43 passing with 94 total yards, no touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. After transferring to Pitt in 2015, his career was revived, and Peterman was taken in the fifth round of the 2017 draft by the Buffalo Bills.

In Buffalo’s preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, Peterman connected with his old Tennessee teammate, tight end Jason Croom for a 17-yard touchdown.

Croom had a little bit of a better time in Knoxville, reeling in 60 passes for 816 yards and 6 touchdowns in his 26 games played, and was signed by the Bills as an undrafted free agent in 2017.

Final cuts have not been made in Buffalo as the regular season is still almost 2 weeks away, so it is not known if Jason Croom will remain a Bill, but Peterman has been battling first round pick Josh Allen and former Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron for the starting job.

Tennessee fans never got to see Peterman toss any touchdowns to Croom for the Vols (or toss any touchdowns to anyone, for that matter), but they might get the chance in 2018 for the Bills. We just have to hope, for Peterman’s sake, he performs better than his starting debuts for both the Vols and the Bills.
