On Monday, Auburn AD Allen Greene fielded several questions about the state of the Tigers’ football program and coach Gus Malzahn.
Now, school president Dr. Steven Leath has weighed in, agreeing with Greene’s assessment of the team’s current struggles.
Leath’s office issued a statement to Auburn Undercover, saying no one is satisfied with Auburn’s 4-3 record:
“Dr. Leath fully agrees with Allen that no one is satisfied with where we are at this point in the season and we likewise must do all we can to ensure Auburn coaches and student-athletes are in the best possible position to succeed.”
Malzahn signed a seven-year, $49-million contract this offseason, and his current buyout is a whopping $32 million, so it’s not likely he’s going anywhere.
Still, fans are getting restless, so the Tigers better start winning more games or university leaders will continue to feel the heat.
