Tennessee may not currently be dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak, but several teams around the SEC are. That includes Texas A&M, which was the Vols’ scheduled opponent for this week.

However, that game is no longer taking place due to the Aggies’ current situation. On Tuesday, it was announced that Saturday’s game between Tennessee and Texas A&M has been rescheduled for Dec. 12 at Neyland Stadium. It’s the first time this season that the Vols have had a game postponed.

“We appreciate Texas A&M’s communication this week. Our football program continued with its traditional game-week preparation as we awaited a decision on the status of Saturday’s game,” Tennessee athletic director Phillip Fulmer said in a statement. “We received confirmation of the game’s postponement this afternoon, and we will share pertinent updates with ticket holders via email and social media as developments occur.”

After opening the season with two consecutive wins, Tennessee has lost four straight games. It was going to be looking for a huge upset win over Texas A&M to get back on track, but it will now have to wait for another opportunity to do so.

Tennessee is currently scheduled to travel to Auburn on Nov. 21. However, the Tigers are also dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak, which led to their game against Mississippi State this week also getting postponed. It’s unclear whether the next game between the Vols and Tigers is in jeopardy of also being moved.
