Into the second half of the SEC season, the race for the conference title is heating up. We’ve got another exciting weekend of SEC baseball ahead.

We’ve reached the 11th week of the 2026 college baseball season, and the 7th weekend of conference play in the SEC. Ten SEC teams are ranked in the D1Baseball Top 25. A few others are still in the NCAA Tournament picture. In their latest field of 64 projections, D1Baseball and Baseball America each have 12 SEC teams in the tournament.

Will the SEC extend its current streak of baseball national champions? Predict this year’s College World Series winner on Kalshi!

The 8 series to be played Thursday-Saturday and Friday-Sunday feature some exciting matchups. We previewed the series and assigned them watchability ratings.

Alabama at Tennessee (Thursday-Saturday)

We start with a rivalry showdown on Rocky Top:

Alabama at a glance:

  • Overall record: 28-14
  • Road record: 6-8
  • SEC record: 9-9
  • Last SEC series: 1-2 at Texas
  • RPI: No. 6

Tennessee at a glance:

  • Overall record: 27-14
  • Home record: 20-8
  • SEC record: 8-10
  • Last SEC series: 1-2 vs. Ole Miss
  • RPI: No. 33

There are some very impressive elements to Alabama’s résumé. The Crimson Tide are on pace for 15 SEC wins and currently have the No. 2 strength of schedule and No. 6 RPI. Then there’s results on the field.

This UA team is hurting right now. Alabama has dropped 6 of its last 8, including a home sweep against Arkansas, 2 on the road at Texas and an 11-2 home blowout by UAB on Tuesday night.

It’s great to have a strong résumé. Alabama, though, needs to start winning at a better rate again.

The pressure is on for Tennessee. The Volunteers seemingly saved their postseason hopes with a sweep at Mississippi State earlier this month. Following that up by losing the Ole Miss series 1-2 at home isn’t exactly what Josh Elander had in mind for his club.

UT’s 8-10 conference record means the Vols are on pace for 13 SEC wins this season, traditionally a “magic number” to make the NCAA Tournament as an at-large team. But 1-2 showings at home aren’t going to get that ticket punched.

Both teams are in bounce-back mode and looking to get back on track.

Arkansas at Mizzou (Thursday-Saturday)

The Hogs head north to face the SEC bottom-feeders:

Arkansas at a glance:

  • Overall record: 27-15
  • Road record: 6-4
  • SEC record: 9-9
  • Last SEC series: 1-2 vs. Georgia
  • RPI: No. 34

Mizzou at a glance:

  • Overall record: 20-21
  • Home record: 11-11
  • SEC record: 3-15
  • Last SEC series: 0-3 at Oklahoma
  • RPI: No. 127

The week is off to a good start for Arkansas, as the Razorbacks beat Missouri State (No. 18 in RPI). It’s also encouraging that the Hogs didn’t experience a hangover from the crushing 26-14 home loss to Georgia last week.

It’s on to Columbia, Missouri, for Dave Van Horn’s club. First-year head coach Kerrick Jackson figures to have a multi-year rebuild ahead at Mizzou. The Tigers showed some signs of life earlier this season by winning the series against a Kentucky team that is currently in NCAA Tournament contention. Still, though, MU is in the painfully familiar spot of last in the SEC, sporting a dreadful 3-15 conference record.

Arkansas enters the series 9-9 in SEC play, which is on pace to make the NCAA Tournament, but far from where the Hogs want to be. A series win for the Hogs will be expected, and a sweep would feel good heading into the final month of the regular season.

SDS watchability rating: Bloop single

Texas A&M at Florida

Two SEC powerhouses collide in Gainesville:

Texas A&M at a glance:

  • Overall record: 31-7
  • Road record: 7-3
  • SEC record: 12-5
  • Last SEC series: 3-0 at LSU
  • RPI: No. 8

Florida at a glance:

  • Overall record: 28-14
  • Home/road record: 18-10
  • SEC record: 10-8
  • Last SEC series: 1-2 vs. Ole Miss
  • RPI: No. 12

Entering this weekend, Texas A&M and Florida are second and fourth in the SEC standings. With a sweep, the Gators could overtake the Aggies. With the way things have been going lately, however, A&M is the more likely team to do the sweeping.

The Aggies are on a tear right now, notching back-to-back sweeps of Texas and LSU. A&M has won its last 6 overall, including its last 3 away from home, improving its road record to a strong 7-3. Win 2 in Gainesville, and the Aggies can win all 4 April SEC series.

Florida is struggling right now. The Gators turned some heads after winning 3-of-4 against top-10 Florida State and Georgia teams on the road. Since then, however, they haven’t been able to keep it up. UF is 1-4 in its last 5 games, all at home, dropping the weekend series to Auburn and losing midweek games against Bethune-Cookman and Jacksonville.

Providing some hope for Florida is that the Gators officially have an 11-3 record against top-25 opponents in 2026. Pouring cold water on that, though, is that UF went 1-5 against then-unranked Alabama and Ole Miss, teams that are currently Nos. 13 and 17 in the D1Baseball Top 25.

A&M is the hottest team in the league, and Florida could very easily have an SEC record better than 10-8. There’s definitely some interest in how things play out this weekend in Gainesville.

SDS watchability rating: Over the wall

Kentucky at South Carolina

South Carolina is desperate for wins. Can Kentucky survive on the road?

Kentucky at a glance:

  • Overall record: 26-13
  • Road record: 9-8
  • SEC record: 8-10
  • Last SEC series: 1-2 vs. Vanderbilt
  • RPI: No. 30

South Carolina at a glance:

  • Overall record: 20-22
  • Home record: 16-12
  • SEC record: 5-13
  • Last SEC series: 0-3 vs. Mississippi State
  • RPI: No. 87

Kentucky got off to a hot start in SEC play with a sweep of Alabama, but has dropped every series since, now sitting at 8-10. If UK is going to correct course, the Wildcats need to take advantage of this week’s matchup.

South Carolina is having a miserable 2026 season, even after pulling the plug on the failed Paul Mainieri experiment. The Gamecocks are now 5-13 in SEC play and 20-22 overall, out of postseason contention.

There’s plenty at stake for the Bat Cats this week. Outside of Big Blue Nation, however, there won’t be much interest in this weekend’s happenings in Columbia.

SDS watchability rating: Can of corn

Texas at Vanderbilt

Both of these teams are coming off of big series wins last weekend:

Texas at a glance:

  • Overall record: 30-8
  • Road record: 5-5
  • SEC record: 11-6
  • Last SEC series: 2-1 vs. Alabama
  • RPI: No. 3

Vanderbilt at a glance:

  • Overall record: 25-17
  • Home record: 20-6
  • SEC record: 9-9
  • Last SEC series: 2-1 at Kentucky
  • RPI: No. 70

We’ve gotten a little caught up lately in some hot streaks and turnarounds, but Texas remains one of the SEC’s top teams. Georgia is holding on to first place, and A&M is surging (in part to 2 wins over the Longhorns), but Jim Schlossnagle’s team continues to be one of the top conference squads.

Texas’s résumé, particularly those March series wins over Ole Miss, Auburn and Oklahoma, has improved with age. The Horns are on a clear track to a top-8 national seed.

Interestingly, Texas and Vanderbilt are separated by just 2 SEC games in the win column, and 3 in the loss column (thanks to a rainout in College Station). In RPI, though, these teams are a whopping 67 spots apart.

Tim Corbin’s Vandy Boys helped their cause by taking 2-of-3 at Kentucky. They need to keep it up and add more SEC wins to their résumé.

One would expect another series win for the Horns. The Dores would turn some heads if they win more than 1 this weekend.

SDS watchability rating: Over the wall

LSU at Mississippi State

Time is running out for LSU to work its way into the NCAA Tournament picture:

LSU at a glance:

  • Overall record: 24-18
  • Road record: 3-7
  • SEC record: 6-12
  • Last SEC series: 0-3 vs. Texas A&M
  • RPI: No. 63

Mississippi State at a glance:

  • Overall record: 31-10
  • Home record: 20-6
  • SEC record: 10-8
  • Last SEC series: 3-0 at South Carolina
  • RPI: No. 19

LSU isn’t technically out of the NCAA Tournament picture, but things are pretty bad on the Bayou these days. There have been injuries. Coach Jay Johnson has publicly vented frustration with mistakes made in constructing his 2026 roster.

The Tigers needed to start the second half of conference play strong against Texas A&M. Instead, they got swept at home by the Aggies and dropped to 6-12 in the SEC.

The Bayou Bengals are in desperate need of a weekend series win. That won’t come easy at Dudy Noble Field, where Mississippi State is 20-6 on the season. The Diamond Dawgs had a rough couple of weeks with back-to-back sweeps by Georgia and Tennessee, but MSU is hoping to show that South Carolina was a get-right series.

The SEC West is sadly a thing of the past, but this is very much a rivalry between 2 of the conference’s proudest baseball programs. The pressure is on for LSU to crash this weekend’s party and stun the Bulldogs. Or Mississippi State can put LSU’s postseason hopes to bed and celebrate its rival’s misery.

SDS watchability rating: Over the wall

Oklahoma at Auburn

A battle between 2 teams with the same overall and SEC records:

Oklahoma at a glance:

  • Overall record: 28-12
  • Road record: 6-6
  • SEC record: 10-8
  • Last SEC series: 3-0 vs. Mizzou
  • RPI: No. 17

Auburn at a glance:

  • Overall record: 28-12
  • Home record: 18-7
  • SEC record: 10-8
  • Last SEC series: 2-1 at Florida
  • RPI: No. 5

The month of April has been good to Auburn. The Tigers ended March on a low note, but have posted a 6-3 SEC record in April, picking up series wins over Arkansas, Kentucky and Florida, all potential NCAA Tournament teams.

Oklahoma has somewhat quietly put together a solid résumé of its own. Last week’s sweep of Mizzou got the Sooners back to a solid 10-8 in SEC play after some recent bumps in the road.

While neither AU or OU is feeling any particular pressure this weekend, both have plenty to play for. With a strong regular-season finish, Oklahoma has the record and RPI for a potential NCAA Regional host seed. Auburn, meanwhile, has its sights set on a top-8 national seed for a potential Super Regional at Plainsman Park. And both teams are just 3 games back of Georgia in the SEC standings.

This should be a fun series on The Plains.

SDS watchability rating: Over the wall

Georgia at Ole Miss

A clash of 2 SEC titans wraps us up this week:

Georgia at a glance:

  • Overall record: 32-10
  • Road record: 8-2
  • SEC record: 13-5
  • Last SEC series: 2-1 at Arkansas
  • RPI: No. 21

Ole Miss at a glance:

  • Overall record: 30-12
  • Home record: 23-4
  • SEC record: 10-8
  • Last SEC series: 2-1 at Tennessee
  • RPI: No. 8

This week, we’re saving the best for last. Georgia continues to be the top team in the SEC standings. A surging Ole Miss is just 3 games back and looking to keep the momentum rolling.

Georgia notably hasn’t been swept all season. Wes Johnson’s Bulldogs have only lost 1 series in 2026, going 1-2 against Florida in Athens. The Dawgs responded by going 2-1 at Arkansas, taking the finale 26-14 at Baum-Walker Stadium to put an exclamation point on a key series win.

Mike Bianco is coaching one of the hottest teams in the SEC. On March 29, Ole Miss was 3-6 in SEC play, fresh off a sweep by Mississippi State in Oxford. Since then, the Rebels have gone 7-2 over the next 9 conference contests, surging to 10-8.

Ole Miss is 23-4 at home this season. Arguably equally impressive is UGA sporting an 8-2 record in true road games. Having already won series in College Station, Starkville and Fayetteville, the Dawgs won’t be bothered by Swayze Field.

All eyes are on Oxford this weekend.
