Paul Mainieri will coach at least one more game for LSU.

The Tigers’ skipper, who is retiring at the end of the season, saw Giovanni DiGiacomo single up the middle past a diving infielder for Central Connecticut State to lead LSU to a 6-5 walk-off victory in Eugene, Oregon. It was the fifth walk-off win for LSU this season.

The Tigers got solid relief pitching from Devin Fontenot and Garrett Edwards, who gave the Tigers a chance to pull it out in the end. Edwards in particular was spot on, and allowed no runs on two hits with four strikeouts and no walks in five innings.

The one-out hit was setup in the 10th when Dylan Crews, who had two home runs in the game, was intentionally walked, and then Cade Doughty drew another walk to load the bases.

LSU’s starting pitcher, Ma’Khail Hilliard, allowed six hits and five runs in four innings with five strikeouts and two walks.

LSU, which lost to Gonzaga earlier in the Eugene Regional, will play the loser of the Oregon-Gonzaga winner set for later Saturday night, on Sunday. It is set for 5 p.m. CT.
