Alabama has lost one of its early 2021 commitments.

Austin, Texas CB Latrell McCutchin announced on Sunday that he has backed off his verbal pledge to the Crimson Tide. In a note posted to his Twitter account, McCutchin said that he will “still be heavily considering the Tide,” but wants to explore his options.

The LBJ standout is listed at 6-1, 176 pounds and rated the No. 10 cornerback, No. 14 Texas product and No. 97 prospect overall in the class of 2021. He committed to Alabama on June 10, 2019 after attending a UA camp. Since then, he has added scholarship offers from LSU, Kansas, Tennessee, Ohio State, Georgia, Penn State, Florida, Arizona State and Texas Tech. While pledged to the Tide, McCutchin visited Tuscaloosa on July 27, 2019 and Nov. 9, 2019.

The decommitment announcement shows it was tweeted from Oklahoma. McCutchin is on an unofficial visit to OU campus.

McCutchin missed the 2019 season with a torn ACL. In 2018, he was evaluated by Gabe Brooks of 247Sports:

Rangy cornerback with good height relative to the position. North of 6 feet as a sophomore with good frame potential for a corner. Size and play style could also translate to free safety and provide personnel flexibility. Plays with obvious awareness. Reacts quickly. Covers a good amount of ground in zone. Not afraid of contact and willing to come downhill against the run and screen game. Shows good ball skills for a DB, aided by ample experience in all three phases. Disruptive at the catch point and uses length to his advantage. Long-strider with adequate play speed, though speed and athleticism have not been numbers-verified in a combine environment. Lacks ideal arriving pop. Can improve tackling technique consistency. Power Five-caliber cornerback prospect with all-conference potential. Long-term development could lead to NFL Draft ceiling.

McCutchin has 24 scholarship offers.
