Justin Jefferson, a Memphis native and JUCO linebacker, announced a commitment to play at Alabama, and became the Crimson Tide’s fifth commitment in the past 2 weeks and the eighth member of the Crimson Tide’s 2023 class.

Jefferson announced the commitment after reported visits to Florida and Texas A&M. He’s listed at 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds. He previously played at Pearl River C.C (Miss.). Jefferson envisioned success in college and at the next level with the Crimson Tide when talking to BamaCentral last month.

“It means the world,” Jefferson said of his Alabama offer. “Everybody is an Alabama fan, and it’s an undeniable fact why — they win and they get you to the next level.”

Defensive coordinator Pete Golding was the primary recruiter for Jefferson.

“Coach (Pete) Golding, he says he’s got a plan. Coach (Nick) Saban, he’s got a plan,” Jefferson told Bama OnLine. “It was just a lot of love coming from Alabama, the number one team in the nation. I’ve got to see what that is like. I love the competition. They’ve got a lot of good guys. And that’s going to make me better in the long run.”

Jefferson plans to enroll at Alabama next January. His commitment is No. 8 for the Crimson Tide in the class of 2023, and the second linebacker, joining edge rusher Yhonzae Pierre.
