Alabama picked up a big win on the recruiting trail Friday when Dameon Pierce, the nation’s No. 7 running back in the class of 2018 as rated by 247Sports, committed to the Crimson Tide.

In an interview with SEC Country, Pierce said Alabama was the best fit.

“Nick Saban told me that he’s glad to have me and Alabama is a hard-working program,” Pierce told SEC Country. “He said I am going to be a great fit and asset for his program.”

In an added twist, Pierce goes to Bainbridge (Georgia) High School, which is the same school Georgia coach Kirby Smart attended. He’s rated as a four-star running back by 247Sports’ composite rankings.

Pierce has 45 career touchdowns. Last year, he produced 2,060 yards rushing with 34 touchdowns. He boasts a mid 4.5 in the 40-yard dash.

Pierce, who’s 5-foot-11, 205 pounds, told SEC Country that Georgia was his second choice. However, the Crimson Tide’s championship past played a big role in his decision.

“Alabama speaks for itself,” Pierce told SEC Country.

For Pierce, the message is loud and clear.
