Alabama pulled off a major signing-day surprise on Wednesday afternoon.

The Crimson Tide flipped 4-star running back Kevin Riley away from Miami. Riley, an Alabama native, had been committed to Miami since the summer.

He shared the news of his decision with On3’s Hayes Fawcett:

Riley is a huge pickup for Alabama on signing day. He’s the No. 76 overall player and the No. 4 running back in the country for the class of 2024, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 8 player from the state of Alabama.

Riley attends Tuscaloosa County High School in Northport, Alabama. He’s listed at 5-foot-11, 195 pounds.

Alabama is fighting to have the top-ranked class in the country for the 2024 recruiting cycle. The Crimson Tide currently trail only Georgia for the top spot. Alabama sits at No. 2 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings. The Tide are expected to sign a trio of 5-star prospects in this class.
