Alabama coordinators are only made available to the media at the start of fall camp and in postseason. With Jeremy Pruitt talking to reporters Tuesday at a Peach Bowl media session, it’s not surprising that defensive players were asked to talk about Pruitt.

When expressing his appreciation for Pruitt, who has the reputation of a players coach, it appears that Crimson Tide CB Marlon Humphrey took a shot at former Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart.

“I feel like he cares more about us than previous coordinators we’ve had,” Humphrey said according to Marq Burnett of SEC Country.

Humphrey, a redshirt sophomore, and the rest of Alabama’s defense has only played for one other coordinator in Tuscaloosa, and that’s Kirby Smart, current head coach at Georgia. Smart was Alabama’s defensive coordinator from 2008-15.

While Humphrey appears to relate better to Pruitt, it’s clear that plenty of recruits still want to play for Smart. Georgia currently has the No. 3-ranked class nationally in the 247Sports Composite, behind only Ohio State and Alabama.
