Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer is looking to bring another familiar face to Tuscaloosa. ESPN’s Pete Thamel shared that Germie Bernard is expected to transfer from Washington to Alabama.

Bernard will be making his second transfer after beginning his career at Michigan State. He played wide receiver for the Huskies in 2023, also contributing on special teams as a returner.

DeBoer has already brought in a pair of Washington players via the portal. Quarterback Austin Mack and offensive lineman Parker Brailsford are also headed to Tuscaloosa to continue their college football careers.

Out of Henderson (Nevada) Liberty High School, Bernard was a blue-chip recruit. The 4-star wide receiver initially signed with Washington, but was released from his NLI and landed at Michigan State.

In the 2022 season, Bernard played in 12 games for Michigan State. He had 7 catches for 128 yards, adding 6 kick returns for 119 yards.

After a season at MSU, Bernard decided to sign with Washington again as a transfer. He played in 14 games for the Huskies, making 7 starts. In a deep wide receiver room, Bernard finished fifth on the team with 34 catches for 419 yards.

Bernard also continued to contribute on special teams. He logged 10 kick returns for 233 yards, with a long of 51 yards. He also had 3 punt returns for 43 yards (long of 32).

DeBoer won’t be the only familiar face for Bernard in Tuscaloosa. Offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb and wide receivers coach JaMarcus Shephard are following DeBoer.
