Alabama has another player reportedly opting to test the transfer portal coming out of the 2023 season.

According to Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer with 247 Sports, linebacker Ian Jackson has entered the portal. Jackson was a former in-state prospect and 4-star recruit out of Prattville High School in the 2021 recruiting class but never carved out a role with the Crimson Tide.

Jackson did not see action as a true freshman in 2021 but appeared in 3 games as a special teams contributor during the 2022 season. He did not see game action during 2023 and has just 1 tackle during his career with the Crimson Tide.

The 247 Sports Composite rated Jackson as the 8th overall player out of Alabama in the 2021 recruiting class and the No. 28 LB in the country. Jackson joins a slew of Crimson Tide players hitting the portal since the end of the Rose Bowl, including former 4-star QB Eli Holstein.

That is the nature of college football in the modern era, but it will be interesting to see Nick Saban and the program adjust moving forward.
