Alabama will lose some experience on the offensive line with the reported decision that a starter in the 2023 is moving on.

Seth McLaughlin, who started all of 2023 at center, is expected to enter the transfer portal, The Tuscaloosa News reported.

McLaughlin became the source of frustration and the subject of criticism after he struggled again with snapping the ball in the Rose Bowl against Michigan.

McLaughlin has eligibility remaining after he’s played at Alabama for 4 seasons. He started 14 games at center in 2023 and started 8 games at center in 2022. He began his career in the Iron Bowl and played well in the 2021 SEC Championship Game, facing Georgia’s strong defense as he started the final 3 games of the 2021 season. He overall appeared in 10 games that season after he 10 snaps against Kentucky in his only 2020 action.

The known commodities to replace McLaughlin on the roster are Terrence Ferguson II or James Brockermeyer as they have experience at the position.

McLaughlin is from Buford, Georgia, and coming out of high school was ranked as the No. 10 center in the country on the 247Composite.
