Down goes No. 1 Houston!

Kelvin Sampson’s squad suffered its worst loss of the season Sunday, falling in an ugly battle to Temple, 56-55 on their home court. With the AP Poll coming out Monday morning, a lot of Alabama fans out there can’t help but ponder the possibility of a No. 1 Tide hoops program.

When you lay it out, it makes a lot of sense. No. 2 Kansas lost twice this week and No. 3 Purdue barely survived a loss to Maryland earlier Sunday afternoon. No. 4 Alabama, meanwhile, is looking stronger than ever at 17-2 on the year with 8 straight wins and an undefeated conference record.

At this point, it just comes down to voter preference. Alabama is looking to be the No. 1 team in the nation for just the 2nd time ever, it’s first since Dec. 16 2002. Purdue has 1 less loss (Rutgers), but Alabama’s are more quality (UConn, Gonzaga).

Fans took to social media to make Alabama’s case for No. 1 Sunday afternoon.

Alabama is back in action Wednesday against Mississippi State before travelling to play Oklahoma Saturday.
