Alabama picked up its first conference road victory of the season on Wednesday night, beating South Carolina, 88-68 in Colonia Life Arena.

While the Gamecocks came out of the gate with some life in this one, they were quickly tamed by the Crimson Tide. Alabama went on an 8-0 run to close out the first half and had the solid 45-28 lead at that point.

The momentum was fully in their favor and never swung back in South Carolina’s direction with the second half started up. But South Carolina did show a lot of fight down that stretch, keeping things close as the Gamecocks were outscored 43-40 by the Tide after the break. That obviously did not prove enough for them to overcome the deficit that had been left at halftime that put the team too far behind to recover from.

Good offense was key to South Carolina staying in the game with Jacobi Wright (20), Jamarii Thomas (15) and Zach Davis (10) finishing out the game as the leading scorers. For Alabama, Mark Sears led the way by scoring 22 points for the Tide.

Alabama will look to stay hot as it faces the No. 10 Texas A&M Aggies on the road Saturday.
