University of Alabama players are listed 32 times on various watch lists for postseason awards this season although senior quarterback Blake Sims is not among them.

With most watch lists compiled and announced before the season started, and very few having been updated yet, Crimson Tide junior Jacob Coker is listed on the watch lists for tow honors, the Maxwell Award (most outstanding player) and the Johnny Unitas Golden Awards Award (top senior quarterback).

Sims has started all four Alabama games and is fourth in the nation in passing efficiency (190.8). He’s also third in the Southeastern Conference in passing yards.

Most of the awards announce their semifinalists in November, but an important exception this week was the William V. Campbell Trophy, the academic Heisman Trophy won by Crimson Tide offensive lineman Barrett Jones in 2012.

Senior Arie Kouandjio is Alabama’s nominee this year, one of 167 semifinalists named from all levels of college football and one of 62 in the Football Bowl Subdivision.

According to the National Football Foundation, candidates are seniors or graduate students in their final year of eligibility who have a grade-point average of at least 3.2, are a significant contributor on the field and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship. The class is selected by the NFF Awards Committee, which will select up to 16 recipients on October 30.

Alabama players have won at least one of the major national college football awards every year since 2008, the longest active streak in college football.
