Alabama players react to arrests of Cam Robinson, Hootie Jones
Earlier this morning, it was reported that Alabama juniors Cam Robinson and Laurence “Hootie” Jones had been arrested in what turned out to be some pretty serious charges against the former.
Robinson, the Crimson Tide’s starting left tackle from the previous two seasons, was hit with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and illegal possession of stolen firearms, the latter being a felony. Jones, a backup safety, is being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and the illegal carrying of a weapon.
In response, a handful of Alabama teammates took to Twitter to express their thoughts, most coming in defense of the two national title-bearing players:
Praying for my brothers, man they some good dudes! They not how the media is portraying them to be smh

The same things happen at other schools and it just gets swept under the rug..

You can do a million things right. As soon as you make one mistake you magically just become a menace to Society… Don't make sense

Welcome, Alabama, to Ole Miss’s world. Where smoking weed is suddenly lack of institutional control. The stolen guns, well, you’re on your own there. It is funny how the teammates all act like they’re good guys. “Oh yeah he’s a good guy, he just stole a couple guns.” Since one of them is actually a starter they will both be let off with a warning and be ready for game 1.
Its not the marijuania that people are calling a loss of control its the coaches paying players that people are up in arma about but nice try at deflecting.
Wait till Jones takes the stand and has to testify in court-
And what? We find out he did nothing wrong and a lawsuit seeking $160,000,000 instead of justice or convictions is *gasp* a money grab? Look around you. Over a hundred institutions are under a Federal Title IX investigation and there are multiple lawsuits going on across the country. UT’s is just the most public thanks to the name “Manning.”
You should be pulling for us to win this, because if we don’t several things will happen. 1. Real victims will have a harder time seeking real punishments and justice (I’m not saying all involved in the UT lawsuit aren’t real victims, but at this point liars and victims may be blended as one) 2. These extremely lucrative lawsuits will be knocking on the door of every single major college soon if a precedent is set.
How about we start by getting schools out of criminal investigations and leaving that to law enforcement.
Don’t know if coaches were involved yet, but didn’t yalls players rape people?
Well, seeing as so far all we have are allegations, an extremely high priced civil suit which even goes so far as to blame Manning and Lil John, and no admissions to any wrongdoing, unlike you guys and Tunsil, I’d say we’re doing just fine.
So that wasnt texts between football administration and a player that the player and the school have said happen. Nice try jedi
lol next time read. I said coaches, an athletic director isn’t a coach. Would have fit more to say rebel, if you’re going with that movie reference, but I don’t expect much from ya ha.
maybe, but without some big time cooperation from Ouachita Parish District Atty, that’s gonna be a big chore to pull.
But if it’s in tuscaloosa or surrounding area, no one would ever hear or see anything about it. Funny how things change once the protection of a wall is far behind you.
Lack of institutional control would be a staff member paying players.
Yep so whoever pays players at any school. They should be fired by said university and banned from coaching anywhere else in D1 football. Or that’s the way I would put it.
Obviously that didn’t happen. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have had to steal the gun.
Well they are all very eloquent young men as well as budding defense attorneys. Maybe Brokaw had it right.
“they go shake back and they go be straight after this” 2 questions. Is that English and what does that even mean?
Eubonics
I think at this point it would probably be a good idea for all the alabama players to shut up on social media about this.
^^THIS^^
Let the mud slinging begin….
Yeah they messed up no big deal bone headed mistake. Atleast they didn assault someone or hit or rape a woman. They will play game one just like they would at any power 5 school nothing to see here.
Standards for Alabama are high. Expect Coach Saban to remove both from the Team.
Good joke
Legal or stolen, I wanna know why these two college-age kids were armed. In a public park. After hours. Spin it any way you want, there is zero rationalization or justification for that. Throw in weed, and there is absolutely nothing good to come from that.
And a stolen firearm? Automatic felony. This will take a very good counselor to plead down.
You forget how much money Bama is gonna throw at the case. Grease the right palms and anything is possible.
There seems to be an awful lot of saying what happened here without an ounce of truth to back it up. Let’s do these kids a favor and say, the accused instead of referring to them as if they have already been convicted. That goes for all of you Tennessee and Ole Miss fans too. Your boys are on the hook and until they are convicted of anything, they are guilty of nothing.
Put yourself in their shoes for a minute and think of a time you were accused of doing something that you didn’t do or the circumstances were much different than they appeared. I know it is much more fun to act if they are guilty and smack talk but the fact of the matter is that this case should not be tried in the media and nothing should be stated as fact until ALL of the facts come out. The only thing we know for sure right now at any of the three schools is that some kids have done some stupid things that they all will eventually have to answer for.
Look at what has happened already. JT is already out millions of dollars, Alabama most likely will not win a national championship this year and Tennessee is going to have recruiting problems for years if this drags out and nobody has been convicted of anything! How are you all making anything better by talking about them as if they are guilty? Help your school and represent and while you are at it, grow up.
Right now, in the court of public opinion, your schools are not very well represented. I get that everyone has a right to their opinion but you all need to state it as opinion and not as fact. Come on, let’s show some maturity here.
There’s a flaw in your extremely rational thinking. This is not a rape case where it’s he said/she said. This is a case with hard evidence. They weren’t supposedly caught with weed and stown firearms. They were caught with them, as in they were possessing them at the time they were searched. If our tennessee boys are guilty, then throw the book at them. However, that case isn’t as clean of a case as this.
These brave young men (and the 4 valiant souls from Auburn University) are guilty of nothing but trying to protect their futures. You other southerners just don’t have the same problems we have here in Alabama. Going outside, especially somewhere like a park you are putting your life at serious risk. I am talking of course about the notorious Alabama raccoon. They are 4 feet tall, pure evil, and feed exclusively on collegiate athletes. Smoking a lot of pot is the only way to safely travel in your vehicle, they can’t stand the smell of marijuana. Obviously, carrying a gun for personal protection is just smart, stolen or otherwise. These football players are trying to do right by the fans and make sure they don’t get eaten by raccoons. They obviously can’t play football if they are dead. It just isn’t fair. Free our athletes!!

You had me with the first three sentences.
You sir, have won the Internet for today.
Lol Ole Mi$$ the biggest cheating school in the US. Wants to point fingers lol.
I actually understand the sentiment that Nick is portraying with second chances. Others will scoff and say he is trying to win more games and I am sure there is some truth to that even if Nick won’t admit it to himself. Football is big business after all. All of that aside, The players in question should be dismissed from the team. This is a serious charge. If Alabama does not police itself in this instance then we are no better than Florida State shielding Rapist Winston, or Ohio State trying to cover up the tatts for apparel scandal, or Ole Miss paying Tusdil’s mom’s rent and light bill. Winning is great, winning the right way is noble. Roll Tide.
