Alabama commit Tua Tagovailoa, a four-star dual-threat quarterback from Hawaii, was honored with a prestigious award on Tuesday evening.

The class of 2017 recruit was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in Hawaii, according to 247Sports.

While guiding St. Louis High School to a state championship, Tagovailoa threw for 2,669 yards and ran for 747 while accounting for 35 total touchdowns.

According to 247Sports, Tagovailoa is the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the class of 2017 and the No. 1 overall recruit from the state of Hawaii. He’s been committed to the Crimson Tide since May.
