Alabama senior Najee Harris enjoyed a terrific season for the Crimson Tide in 2020. And on Thursday evening, he was announced as the Doak Walker Award as the country’s top running back.

Harris is the 3rd Crimson Tide running back to win the award, joining Derrick Henry and Trent Richardson.

Behind one of the best offensive lines in the country, Harris ran for 1,387 yards and 24 touchdowns on just 229 carries, recording an average of 6.9 yards an attempt. His 3,764 yards going into Monday’s College Football Playoff National Championship Game against Ohio State is the highest total in Alabama history and ranks just outside the top 15 all-time among SEC running backs. Harris is also one of 3 Crimson Tide running backs to record 5 touchdowns in a single game, joining Shaun Alexander and Santonio Beard.

His career-best rushing day was on Oct. 10 against Ole Miss, where he totaled 205 yards on just 26 carries and scored 5 times.

Harris joined several other Alabama offensive players to be honored during the ESPN College Football Awards on Thursday. Mac Jones won the Davey O’Brien Award, while DeVonta Smith brought home the Biletnikoff Award. Alex Leatherwood and Landon Dickerson won the Outland and Rimington Trophies, respectively.
