Nick Saban announced on Monday that Alabama has returned to its 2020 safety protocols as the Crimson Tide continues to prepare for Cincinnati and the College Football Playoff.

The Alabama coach revealed Monday that players and coaches are again wearing masks in the facility and social distancing during meetings. Saban also shared that more than 90 percent of the players are vaccinated and have received their booster shots.

“Am I concerned?” Saban said. “I’m always concerned when there’s an issue out there, and we want to do the best we can to help our players be concerned about the issue and respect it so they have the best opportunity to stay safe.”

Saban also shared that players have been sent home with a care package to keep them safe, and the staff has done its best to educate the players.

“They’re really bought in to do everything they can to stay safe,” Saban said of the players. “There’s no guarantee, so we want to use every protocol we can to help them stay safe.”

Alabama is scheduled to travel to Texas on Dec. 26 ahead of the Dec. 31 Cotton Bowl and Playoff semifinal against Cincinnati.
