Alabama sees DB, former 4-star recruit, enter transfer portal after 2 seasons

Alabama DB Jake Pope is the latest Crimson Tide player to elect to enter the transfer portal.
Pope is looking to continue his college football career elsewhere after two seasons in Tuscaloosa.

In the 2022 recruiting cycle, Pope was a highly sought-after prospect. Out of Buford (Georgia) High School, Pope was rated 4-stars, the No. 32 safety, No. 37 player in the Peach State and No. 391 prospect overall on the 247Sports Composite.
Pope picked up scholarship offers from 36 schools. He signed with Alabama over North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State and others.
Pope did not log playing time his first fall at Alabama, taking a redshirt for the 2022 season. In 2023, Pope did not record any defensive statistics, though his Alabama bio notes appearances in 11 games, primarily on special teams.
Pope has three full seasons of remaining eligibility.
