Alabama sees freshman DB, former 4-star recruit, opt for transfer portal
Alabama is seeing a 2024 blue-chip signee leave the program before playing a regular-season down for the Crimson Tide.
Peyton Woodyard signed with the Crimson Tide in December as part of the 2024 class. He enrolled at UA in January. While the coaching change provided a 30-day window for enrolled players to enter the transfer portal, Woodyard was among those who elected to stay and participate in spring practice.
After going through spring, Woodyard has decided to play elsewhere.

Woodyard as a recruit
A standout of the prominent California program St. John Bosco, Woodyard checked in at Alabama measuring 6-2, 188 pounds.
Woodyward was rated 4-stars, the No. 8 safety, No. 10 recruit in the state of California and No. 115 prospect overall nationally on the 247Sports Composite for the Class of 2024.
During his recruitment, Woodyard collected scholarship offers from 36 programs. He verbally committed to Georgia back on Jan. 7, 2023. While pledged to the Bulldogs, Woodyard took June 2023 visits to Alabama, Georgia, USC and Ohio State.
In August, Woodyard decided to flip his commitment from Georgia to Alabama.
What’s next for Woodyard?
SEC rules do not allow for spring transfer portal entrants to receive immediate eligibility within the conference.
Considering his California roots and previous USC interest, the Trojans could be a team to watch to land Woodyard, if he’s looking to go back home.
For Alabama, Woodyard is only the third player to enter the spring portal, which closes this week. Only three portal entrants after the first practices with a new coaching staff show that most of the roster is buying in for Kalen DeBoer.
Depth chart issues.
Definitely depth. Not likely to get a role this year, so greener pastures called.
Losing safeties Caleb Downs, Jake Pope, and Peyton Woodyard are tough shoes to fill.
That Charlotte DB transfer will have his hands full.
Defense is overrated in the CKD system, Bama plans to outscore everyone just like Washington and hopes to hold everyone in the conference under 30 points a game, just like Washington…but hey, at least Washington wasn’t screwed by the committee and punished for sorry defense, last CFP it was about screwing undefeated teams and sorry offenses, remember?
Leg. You do a lot of complaining.
27-24 will cause that to happen.
ANo LSUSMC, not a depth chart issue in spite of the adorable bamabone statement…contraire, he sure played a lot on A day…in fact this is what Bama site rolltidewire had to say: Overall, there is room for optimism regarding Alabama’s second-team defense. A couple of standouts included Dre Kirkpatrick Jr., Peyton Woodyard, Jeremiah Alexander, and Justin Okoronkwo. Each of them seemed to step up when a big play was needed on the defensive end…
Where’s my pal Kirby4prez? He and donke were so giddy when Peyton flipped from UGa. I’d love to hear how sorry this kid was in spring ball and had no chance of cracking the 7 deep roster at the S position…
None of this matters in this day of semi-annual free agency. Who knows where any of these players will be in 2025. In the meantime LH just stew over 27-24 and Bama ending your dream of a 3-peat. Carry on.
Peyton Woodyard flipped from Georgia to Alabama. Georgia moved on an flipped the #1 safety KJ Bolden from FSU.
Looks like Georgia came out the real winner as Alabama ends up with nothing.
No wonder why Alabama is getting undersized DB transfers from Charlotte.
Year 2 will critical for DeBoers at Bama.
If Bama slips in recruiting and has another net-negative year with the portal DeBoers is toast.
Bye. Hello Domani Jackson, Keon Saab, and Kameron Howard. And we keep shopping.
I told you so.
Trapped player leaving program at first chance.
It was fun while it lasted, but now it’s over. Apparently most of our true fans are fat. My wagon is still full but, alot of these wagons are missing girls.
My good friend delandman was wondering, he (I guess he still identifies as a he) has a few gender-neutral fans that need a nice wagon. Prefer it to be padded in pink chiffon pleather and organic balsawood rails with a rainbow RTR flag at half mass to mourn the loss of Nicky. Can you help a g8rheshe out truvol? I mean bubba…
Leg. You should enter therapy for your Saban Butt Hurt Syndrome. Maybe talking about it with a professional will help you cope with you’re day to day life.
I heard it was because the coaches wanted to move him from Safety to Cornerback. Same day Alabama got a safety from the transfer portal. This is the new normal. Players don’t like their gig, move onto to another location.
Gomer
“Did you buy your Trump B1ble and sneakers?” I have no idea what you are talking about, what is a Trump B2ble and sneakers?
Seriously, you sound like one of those brainwashed, brain-dead TDS f00ls who goes around accusing others of being in a cult or brainwashed.
I don’t vote for a Mommy or a Daddy or a brother, I don’t have to vote for a check and I don’t vote because I’m a “v1ct1m.” I vote for policy positions and policy action.

When Trump was President everything in America was good – the economy, immigration, foreign affairs, crime in America etc. Under Uncle Joe every single aspect of American life has gotten worse, literally every single aspect.
That fact Trump has had three wives and probably a thousand girlfriends doesn’t bother me, Trump is not my Dad, he isn’t my brother, he isn’t my friend, he isn’t my minister, he isn’t my neighbor. Yes, Trump’s public persona is over the top and in many aspects he comes across as a jerk but I don’t care. I’m not envious of Trump’s wealth, his privilege, his position, his businesses or whatever. Trump is a developer so he has had to file bankruptcy for businesses, that’s very common for developers and builders – I could care less. The dude is a proven winner in business, entertainment and now politics – I like winners.
Uncle Joe is a r@cist, that’s not my opinion, that’s based on his many words and actions over the years. Uncle Joe is a corrupt, life-long politician who has never accomplished anything worthwhile for the American citizenry, again that’s not my opinion. Uncle Joe is too mentally and physically incompetent to hand out shopping carts at Wal Mart, again that is fact not opinion. Uncle Joe is the worse President in the History of the United States, that is the opinion of about 70% of America.
It’s very simple – the choice is Trump or Uncle Joe. If Trump wins the American people will win. If Uncle Joe wins the American people will lose – only a complete and utter f00l who is brainwashed by the left thinks otherwise.
A grown aass, mature, responsible man isn’t distracted by all the hysteria, wild accusations, hyperbole and false narratives surrounding Trump. That same man also has enough common sense and wisdom to know the damage Uncle Joe and his cabal are doing to America.
Man-childs, emoting f00ls, hysterical woman folk, people who have to vote for a check, people who vote for validation, people who vote their feelings, people who vote because they are a “v1ct1m” – those are the cultists and rank-and-file Uncle Joe voters.
The people who go around saying they won’t vote for Uncle Joe on one hand then carry on about Trump being the antichr1st are just the gheettoo rats who are too ashamed to admit they are voting for Uncle Joe.
