Last week, there was a sweet moment ahead of Alabama’s game against Ole Miss.
During the week’s preparations, coach Nick Saban reached out to 8-year-old Alabama fan Braxton Weidman, and Weidman asked Saban if he was going to run Najee Harris against the Rebels.
We all know what happened next. Harris had an incredible game, running for more than 200 yards and 5 touchdowns.
On Saturday’s edition of College GameDay on ESPN, reporter Tom Rinaldi produced a segment on the battle Weidman is going through. As you can see in the emotional video below, Weidman is battling a brain tumor with only a 1-in-4 chance of survival:
Eight-year-old Alabama fan Braxton Weidman was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September.
Last week, Braxton asked Nick Saban if he was going to run Najee Harris. Harris heard his story and responded with over 200 yards and 5 TDs.

Weidman’s courage in the face of such adversity is truly inspiring, and it’s clear the Crimson Tide have been moved by his battle as well.
Best wishes to Weidman and his family moving forward. They’ll be in attendance at Saturday night’s game between Alabama and Georgia.
