The biggest NFL roster move regarding any former University of Alabama players last week was the Jacksonville Jaguars signing Antoine Caldwell to provide some depth at center.

Caldwell was out of the league last season after not making Buffalo’s final roster, but previously played four seasons for the Houston Texans, appearing in 39 games with 19 starts.

The 28-year-old won’t have much time to make a favorable impression as the first round of roster cuts all have to be made by next Tuesday.

Consequently, this may be the most important week of training camp as anyone who isn’t listed as at least second-team on the depth chart needs to start making a big, favorable impression.

Preseason Week 3 games are considered the main dress rehearsal for the season opener, with the starters usually playing the entire first half, if not more.

Alabama has 46 active players in various training camps, although Barrett Jones might soon join Jesse Williams on injured reserve after recently having back surgery that could sideline him for another full season.
