Derrick Henry has been immortalized at Yulee High School in north Florida.

This week, during Yulee’s annual spring football game, the Heisman Trophy winner from Alabama had his jersey retired by his high school. Henry was also honored by Yulee with a mural. These honors were a long time coming as Henry broke the 59-year national high school rushing record by the time his career at Yulee had come to an end. Before rushing his way to a Heisman Trophy in Tuscaloosa, Henry ran for 12,124 yards at Yulee.

In three years at Alabama, Henry rushed for 3,591 yards (2,219 of those yards came during his junior season) and 42 touchdowns. He went on to become a second-round selection by the Tennessee Titans in the 2016 NFL Draft following his collegiate career. While his pro career may have started slow, Henry broke out last season, rushing for 1,059 yards and 12 touchdowns for the Titans.
