Alabama is off to a 2-0 start to its season, opening up its campaign with wins over Missouri and Texas A&M. Its next game is on Saturday at Ole Miss, as Nick Saban and Lane Kiffin reunite for the first time since Kiffin left the Crimson Tide staff to become the head coach at Florida Atlantic.
As it was last year, a massive part of the Tide’s success has been DeVonta Smith. The senior wide receiver made 68 catches for 1,256 yards and 14 touchdowns last year, including 5 touchdowns and a school-record 274 yards on 11 catches against the Rebels. He’s off to a strong start this season as well, with 14 catches for 152 yards and 1 touchdown in the early going.
The Crimson Tide is obviously hoping that Smith and the rest of the team can keep things going against the Rebels, a team they have beaten 4 times in a row and hold a 51-10-2 record against all-time.
Smith was the focus of Alabama’s Week 3 hype video, where he talks about his post-practice routine and his desire to make a name for himself as the best wide receiver to ever suit up for the program.
