‘Dixieland Delight’ was originally written by Ronnie Rogers, a Nashville-born country music singer and songwriter. Of course, the University of Alabama has adopted the song for its own purposes during sporting events, targeting Auburn, LSU and Tennessee with fan-created chants that fit into the song.

During the Crimson Tide’s game against Arkansas on Saturday, Rogers was able to hear his song sung aloud in Bryant-Denny Stadium for the first time ever:

It was clearly a very emotional and joyous moment for Rogers on the sidelines, who clapped along with the music and was pumped up at the end of the song. He wrote ‘Dixieland Delight’ as a single for the band Alabama, as well as ‘Jukebox in My Mind,’ both of which were No. 1 hits.

It is also worth pointing out:

Alabama leads the all-time series with LSU 55-27-5…

…and leads Auburn 49-37-1…

…and leads Tennessee 58-39-7.

The song, “Tennessee Saturday night” and all, will next be enjoyed for The Third Saturday in October rivalry clash.
