Eddie Lacy has been one of the more interesting players to watch over the past several seasons.

The former Alabama star was one of the top running backs in the league upon entering the NFL, but his production has slowly declined. Some believe that decline is connected with his shocking weight gain.

Lacy has made it known that he has strong cravings for junk food, but the Seattle Seahawks are taking steps to keep his appetite in check. The Pro Bowl running back reportedly weighed as much as 267 pounds while visiting teams during free agency this offseason, and the Seahawks have given him an incentive-laced contract to get back down to playing shape.

Nearly a month ago, Lacy weighed in at 253 pounds, beating the team’s stated mark of 255 pounds and earning himself a cool $55,000 in the process. On Monday, Lacy will step on the scales once again. If he is below 250 pounds, Lacy will once against receive a $55,000 bonus.

Lacy’s Twitter feed is full of motivational posts that show him working hard to reach his goals.

Who would have thought that $55,000 would be one heck of a weight-loss motivator?
