After it was reported earlier in the day that former Alabama running back Eddie Lacy is signing with the Seattle Seahawks, other reports surfaced that his weight may be an issue.

For a big, bruising back like Lacy, a bit of extra weight wouldn’t be a problem. Two hundred and sixty seven pounds, however, is another story.

Lacy who has struggled with his weight for years at this point, is coming off of a surprisingly rocky pair of seasons in Green Bay. After off the field concerns caused him to lose his job starting job, he has battled everything from injury, to lack of production, to persistent weight concerns.

Seattle seems to be a dream fit for Lacy’s style, and perhaps his mentality as well, but the shock of 267 is hard to get behind if you’re rooting for Lacy to return to his Pro Bowl form. His deal in Seattle is cheap, at one-year, $5.55 million, so the risk still makes sense for a Seahawks team that desperately needs a running back.

The former Tide player still has the majority of the offseason to get back in shape, but early returns aren’t looking promising for his come back.
