The debate this week ahead of the College Football Playoff rankings reveal on Tuesday night is which team will be No. 4, and how far Alabama should slip following the loss to LSU.

ESPN’s ‘Get Up’ crew took on the debate as Desmond Howard said Alabama would be placed No. 5, while Marcus Spears and Paul Finebaum each said the Crimson Tide should be No. 4.

“To go from three to four would be devastating to college football,” Howard said. “I think you have to drop them to five. But I still do think personally that they’re one of the top four teams in college football.”

Finebaum said Alabama is “unequivocally” one of the top four teams and, “that’s what they’re supposed to do, and I think if they’re true to form, they will put Alabama at No. 4 tonight.”

Spears said if the Playoff committee is not trying to send a statement, Alabama should be No. 4.

Mike Greenberg raised the issue that Alabama’s best win this season might be Auburn, which could have four losses by the time the season ends.

Finebaum replied that if Alabama had Georgia’s, Ohio State’s or Oregon’s schedule, that it would be undefeated. Finebaum said LSU and Ohio State are the only teams that can beat Alabama.
