The Arizona Cardinals have placed safety Deionte Thompson on their reserve/COVID-19 list, the team announced on Tuesday.

The team did not mention if Thompson has tested positive for COVID-19 or has been in close contact with an individual who has, but stated that if Thompson ends up testing negative, he may play on Sunday against the New England Patriots.

A 5th-round pick by Arizona in the 2019 NFL Draft, the former Alabama Crimson Tide standout has recorded 24 tackles this season. As a rookie last year, he totaled 18 stops.

He was named an All-American and a 1st-team All-SEC selection in 2018 as a junior at Alabama as he amassed 78 tackles, 3.5 tackles for a loss, 2 interceptions and 6 passes defensed.

The Cardinals and Patriots are set for a 1 pm ET kickoff from Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. on Sunday. The game will be televised on FOX.
