Former Alabama DB Trevon Diggs has resolved all issues with a Dallas TV anchor. Diggs apologized in a hilariously fitting way.
WFAA sports anchor Mike Leslie questioned Diggs’ effort on a key play in the Dallas Cowboys’ loss to the San Francisco 49ers, speculating the defensive back was jogging. Diggs saw the social media post in question and had a hostile exchange with Leslie, as transcribed by Sports Illustrated:
DIGGS: “That’s what you took from that? Out of that whole play, that’s what you took from that? You don’t know football. You can’t do nothing that I do. You can’t go out there and do nothing. Stay in your lane, buddy. Stop trying me, dog.”
LESLIE: “Just asking the question, Trevon. I mean, I’m happy to have you answer the question.”
DIGGS: “Out of that whole play, that’s what you took from that? That’s what you got from that? Out of that whole play, that’s what you got from that?”
LESLIE: “We can talk about it more.”
DIGGS: “Talk about deez nuts.”
The “deez nuts” quip, which he may have picked up from spending so much time around Nick Saban, went viral. But now, Leslie can laugh along with everyone else as the air has been cleared.
Leslie shared an update Wednesday. Diggs explained that what Leslie saw as jogging was the defender slow-playing a potential cutback by 49ers TE George Kittle.
Trevon Diggs and I have cleared the air. He apologized for the hallway incident, and I apologized for misreading the play — he explained that what I interpreted as him jogging was in fact him slow-playing a potential cutback from George Kittle.

The pair can actually talk about some nuts. Diggs offered a can of Dee’s Nuts as an apology.
Cowboys PR informed me that the video violated their social media policy, so here’s some pictures instead. pic.twitter.com/9N7Wxs4lvh

Well played, Trevon.
