Former Alabama linebacker Rashaan Evans has landed with a new NFL team as he looks to extend his professional career.

Evans was signed to the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad after former Georgia star Nakobe Dean left Sunday’s 25-20 win over the Patriots with a foot injury, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.

The Titans chose Evans with the 22nd pick of the 2018 draft and he started 50 games for them before he played for the Falcons last season. With the Titans, Evans recorded 3 sacks, 2 interceptions and 8 pass breakups. He started all 17 games for Atlanta and had 159 tackles, 2 sacks, a forced fumble, and 3 fumble recoveries.

Evans became a free agent after the 2022 season, but did not sign with a team this offseason.

Evans’ final season at Alabama was 2017, and he was selected as one of the Tide’s permanent team captains as a senior. Evans was named a first-team All-American by the AFCA, earned first-team All-SEC from the Associated Press and was named to the All-SEC second team by the conference coaches.

Evans made a team-high tying 74 tackles, and led the Tide with 13 tackles for loss despite missing a pair of games because of injury.
