The Tennessee Titans are betting big on Derrick Henry having a big comeback year.

Tennessee and the former Alabama RB have inked a deal in which Henry receives a $9M signing bonus, $4M base salary, and $1M in 46-man roster bonuses in 2022.

That’s quite a healthy sum for Henry, who missed 9 regular seasons games in 2021 due a broken foot suffered in Week 8. But, don’t count the RB out yet. Before his injury, Henry rushed for 937 yards and 10 touchdowns, and was on a record-setting pace.

If he had been able to finish the season, Henry was on pace to lead the NFL in rushing yards (1,991) and touchdowns (21) for the third consecutive year. Despite his absence for the second half of the season, Henry still finished in the top 10 in the NFL in rushing yards, carries and rushing TDs.

Henry had held back-to-back titles for rushing yards in the NFL prior to his injury, and the Titans are hoping for a triumphant return. The new restructuring makes Henry the highest-paid RB this season in terms of 2022 cash. Can Henry live up to the money, and the expectations? We’ll find out this fall.

And, what does this restructured contract mean for Henry’s future? We’ll see what happens this offseason!
