Former Alabama RB BJ Emmons has had quite the football career so far.

After starting his college career with the Crimson Tide, rushing for 173 yards and a touchdown in 2016, Emmons transferred to the JUCO ranks in 2017. Then, he spent the 2018 through 2020 seasons with Florida Atlantic.

He signed with the Seattle Seahawks as a undrafted free agent following the 2021 NFL Draft. He also spent time with the Las Vegas Raiders’ and Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice squads last year.

This spring, he played for the Tampa Bay Bandits in the new USFL. Now, he has another NFL opportunity, per Pro Football Network.

Pro Football Network reports that Emmons is heading to the Houston Texans to try to earn a roster spot ahead of the 2022 season.

The Texans have Marlon Mack and Rex Burkhead as their top 2 running backs currently. Rookie Dameon Pierce out of Florida will push them for playing time, too.

Can Emmons work his way into the rotation and earn a spot on the 53-man roster when the season begins next month? He’ll have 3 games to showcase his skills. The Texans open their preseason slate against New Orleans on Saturday night at 8 p.m. Eastern time. Then, they head to Los Angeles to face the reigning Super Bowl-champion Rams on Aug. 19 and finish their preseason schedule at home against the San Francisco 49ers on Aug. 25.
