Former Alabama TE Michael Nysewander is reportedly heading back to the Yellowhammer State for a coaching gig. Nysewander is expected to be the next tight ends coach at Jacksonville State, according to Matt Zenitz of On3.
Nysewander, 30, is a former Crimson Tide walk-on from Birmingham. He is close to Lane Kiffin.
Nysewander was with the Alabama football from 2011-to-2015. Kiffin was the team’s offensive coordinator for Nysewander’s final 2 seasons.
Nysewander was awarded a scholarship in 2015. That season, he saw action in 7 games as a tight end/H-back, recording a 19-yard touchdown reception.
After a brief stop at Samford, Nysewander reunited with Kiffin at Florida Atlantic in the spring of 2017. Nysewander joined Kiffin’s FAU staff, working with the offense and special teams. Following 2 seasons, he moved to a different role as Assistant Director of Player Development.
Nysewander followed Kiffin to Oxford. A senior analyst, Nysewander has been with the Rebels for all 3 seasons of Kiffin’s tenure.
