Alabama lost wide receiver Kobe Prentice to the transfer portal earlier this month.
And on Tuesday, the junior in-state product from Calera made his decision on where he’ll be continuing his collegiate career, announcing he was transferring to Baylor.
Prentice took to social media to make his big announcement, complete with a big picture of himself catching a pass while wearing a Bears jersey:
Prentice had been underwhelming this fall in his first season playing under Kalen DeBoer. The 5-foot-10, 188-pound Prentice only managed 11 catches for 129 yards and 1 touchdown.
In the 2 seasons prior to DeBoer’s arrival in Tuscaloosa while playing for Nick Saban, Prentice had a combined 49 catches for 651 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was a solid weapon in the Crimson Tide offense during those 2 seasons, catching 31 balls as a freshman in 2022.
But Prentice couldn’t gain stardom at Alabama, and his production dropped this season as Prentice dealt with the coaching transition and injuries.
Prentice’s departure for the Big 12 continues the recent trend of Alabama receivers heading elsewhere for 2025. Fellow wideout Kendrick Law recently entered the portal and earlier this week Emmanuel Henderson, a former 4-star signee in Alabama’s 2022 recruiting class, announced he was entering the portal as well.
