Mekhi Brown wants everyone to know he wasn’t kicked off Alabama’s team. He left of his own free will.

If you somehow missed it, Brown had a tirade in the National Championship Game and had to be restained by his teammates after a brief altercation with an assistant coach. The moment went viral during the epic Alabama-Georgia title game.

Days later, Brown left the program for Tennessee Tech. An odd move, to say the least, especially considering Brown claims he was not dismissed from the program. Brown was a U.S. Army All-American in 2015 and was rated as a four-star prospect. Known as an emerging special teams performer for the Tide, Brown registered only seven tackles in his two seasons in Tuscaloosa.

Following his sideline tirade, Brown continued to play against Georgia, even making a key special teams tackle in the contest.
