Arizona State had a pair of former SEC quarterbacks on its roster this season, and one of them is looking to play elsewhere.

Paul Tyson, a former Alabama quarterback, will enter the transfer portal, which opens on Dec. 5, according to Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports. Tyson, the great-grandson of Bear Bryant, announced his transfer to ASU nearly a year ago after he completed 10 of 16 passes for 150 yards at Alabama in 2021.

Tyson was a 4-star quarterback in the 2019 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Former Florida QB Emory Jones won the competition to begin the season as the starting quarterback. Jones started the first 7 games this season before he gave way to Trenton Bourguet.

The Sun Devils fired coach Herman Edwards during the season, and over weekend hired alumnus Kenny Dillingham, the Oregon offensive coordinator, as the new head coach.
