Alabama will have continuity on its side next season as Nick Saban has only had to replace one assistant coach this offseason down in Tuscaloosa.

The only change on the staff this offseason comes on the defensive line as Crimson Tide have hired former Ole Miss assistant Freddie Roach. Roach served as an assistant on the Ole Miss staff for three seasons. Alabama officially announced the hire on Thursday.

“There’s always some internal things that have to happen when you hire someone,” Saban said of Roach back in January. “Freddie’s an Alabama guy and we’d love for him to be a part of our program, and hopefully, all those things will work out favorably for us.”

Saban offered up the following prepared statement on Roach’s hire on Thursday:

“We are pleased and happy to have Freddie Roach return to our staff at The University of Alabama. Freddie did a fantastic job at Ole Mis the last three years coaching their defensive line and we are excited to welcome him back to Tuscaloosa. Freddie played here and has been a part of our staff on a couple of occasions. He brings a tremendous understanding of what we do on defense, how we run our program while proving to an outstanding recruiter.”
