Gerry DiNardo evaluates Michigan defense, reveals strengths ahead of Rose Bowl
Gerry DiNardo hasn’t seen much of Alabama to go into a deep evaluation of its Rose Bowl matchup against Michigan.
However, on “McElroy & Cubelic in the Morning,” the Big Ten Network college football analyst believes the Wolverines’ defense is “better than most defenses in the SEC.”
“Michigan is different (in a good way) on defense,” DiNardo said.
DiNardo said Michigan’s defensive line, who is set to go up against a talented Alabama offensive line, is talented. In terms of being disruptive, DiNardo added that “it’s hard to tell.”
“Michigan has played against a lot of offensive lines that are not as good as Alabama’s offensive line,” DiNardo said.
DiNardo noted that the Wolverines do have an ace in the hole, which is a deep depth of players in its rotation.
Top-seeded Michigan, standing perfect at 13-0, is scheduled to face No. 4 Alabama in the Rose Bowl at 5 p.m. on New Years Day. The winner of this game moves onto the national championship game on Jan. 8.
The Wolverines’ campaign includes beating rival Ohio State in a tight game in November, and defeating Iowa to be crowned Big Ten champions.
Senior tailback Blake Corum has led the charge on Michigan’s offense with 24 touchdowns and 1,028 rushing yards on 218 carries.
