Greg McElroy knows that this is the time of the year to be playing your best football, and that’s especially true for Alabama.

Alabama clinched the SEC West with a 49-21 win over Kentucky on Saturday. One thing that surprised McElroy at how bad the Wildcats were on defense.

McElroy credited the Crimson Tide for an incredible performance in Week 11 on the latest edition of Always College Football.

“Speaking of figuring it out, Alabama is playing their best football at the best time of the year. And I was very surprised by how bad Kentucky was defensively. You can look at Kentucky the last 3 or 4 weeks, they just got destroyed on that side of the ball,” said McElroy. “I thought in this one they’d be a little more sound, they’d make Alabama earn it and they’d be in a good position to make Alabama play offense… That was a terrific offensive performance from Alabama.”

Jalen Milroe had a phenomenal game. Milroe contributed 234 yards passing and 6 total touchdowns. Milroe scored 6 of Alabama’s 7 touchdowns in the game.

The Crimson Tide offense as a whole had 444 yards in the win.

With the SEC Championship set, Alabama now has Chattanooga and Auburn to close out the regular season.

The Crimson Tide’s last home game of the year will be on Saturday.
