Greg McElroy pumps brakes on everyone declaring Tua Tagovailoa the winner of Alabama's QB battle
During Monday’s episode of “The Paul Finebaum Show,” Finebaum said he’s heard that Tua Tagovailoa has all but locked up the Alabama quarterback job.
However, when former Alabama QB and current SEC Network analyst Greg McElroy joined the show later that day, he pumped the brakes a bit on that speculation.
While he agreed that Tagovailoa is the leader right now, he said he still thinks there’s a small chance Jalen Hurts could win the job:
"If you had me handicap the race I would say it's 90 to 10 Tua vs. Jalen. But, to say this thing is completely settled or there's nothing left to see is a bit of an oversight" – @GregMcElroy pic.twitter.com/wydgTWwY5r

By all accounts, Tagovailoa outplayed Hurts in Saturday’s scrimmage, but there’s still a long way to go before Week 1.
Even McElroy agrees that Hurts has to step up his game if he’s going to get back into the race, though.
