Many have been watching Alabama’s fall camp closely, eagerly waiting for a final outcome of the quarterback battle between Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts.

However, it seems the battle for the Week 1 start may be wrapped up already, as Tagovailoa reportedly had a great performance during Saturday’s scrimmage while Hurts struggled.

On “The Paul Finebaum Show” on Monday, Finebaum said he’s heard from sources that the job is Tagovailoa’s, and Hurts is actually battling Mac Jones for the backup spot:

“Based on what I’ve heard… select boosters get to go to the practices and not allowed to tweet or text or tell anyone what they said, although several have told me what they said,” Finebaum revealed. “Tua is going to be the starter… One person indicated to me, right now, there is a competition for backup.”

Could Hurts really go from leading the Tide to the National Championship Game two straight years to third-string quarterback? Based on recent news out of Tuscaloosa, it certainly seems possible at this point.
