Henry Ruggs III was involved in a serious car crash in the central Las Vegas Valley in the early hours of Tuesday morning, and the Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver is now being charged with DUI resulting in death.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department issued a statement sharing that Ruggs was driving a Chevrolet Corvette that collided with a Toyota RAV4 and that the 22-year-old “remained on scene and showed signs of impairment.” The fire department personnel “located a deceased victim,” inside the Toyota, which was found on fire by the police officers.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared the full statement from the LVMPD:

Ruggs’ attorneys, David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, issued the following statement to TMZ Sports:

“On behalf of our client Henry Ruggs III we are conducting our own investigation as of this writing and ask everyone to reserve judgment until all the facts are gathered.”

According to Ken Ritter of the Associated Press, a female passenger who was in the car with Ruggs was injured in the crash. He and his passenger were both hospitalized, and Ruggs’ injuries were “described by officials as not life-threatening,” per Ritter.

Ruggs, who played at Alabama from 2017-19, is currently in his second NFL season with the Raiders, who took him in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
