Alabama is about a two-touchdown favorite against LSU next week in Tiger Stadium. So a loss would be one of the bigger college football stories of the season.

However, that hypothetical scenario would only drop the Crimson Tide’s chances of making the College Football Playoff from 92 percent, with the win, to 60 percent, with a loss. Already a tall order to make the College Football Playoff, LSU would see its chances drop from 14 percent to nine percent.

Clemson, Notre Dame and Michigan are the other teams with the best chances to make the CFP, though the top four teams would likely be sent through a spin cycle with an LSU win, and a possible rematch with Georgia in Atlanta. An LSU win, however, could increase the odds of the SEC having two teams make the CFP.

Alabama’s looking for its eighth straight win in the series, and next week’s game will kickoff at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday.
