Jalen Milroe is the new leader in Vegas for the 2024 Heisman Trophy.

That’s as of the 12:24 mark in the second quarter on Saturday in Tuscaloosa. Milroe has officially surpassed Miami quarterback Cam Ward at most sportsbooks to be the leader in Heisman odds after pushing Alabama to a 28-0 lead over the No. 2 Bulldogs. Milroe has scored 2 rushing touchdowns in the first half and is also a perfect 9-for-9 as a passer.

Per FanDuel as of this writing, Milroe is listed at +170 to win the award. Those odds are fluid though and will likely continue to move throughout the night. Ward is +500 as of this writing.

It’s a huge odds change for Milroe, who entered the week at +750 on FanDuel. In addition to Ward, he was also behind Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart at most sportsbooks.

There’s still a long way to go, but Milroe would become the 5th player in Alabama football history to win the Heisman if he ends up earning the award at season’s end. The others are Mark Ingram, Derrick Henry, DeVonta Smith and Bryce Young. All Alabama Heisman winners have come since the 2009 season.

Milroe entered this game with an 8-to-0 TD-to-INT ratio in Alabama’s previous 3 contests. He’d also rushed for 156 yards and 6 more scores on the ground prior to this Week 5 matchup against UGA.

Milroe is looking for his second straight win over the Bulldogs after upsetting Georgia in the SEC Championship Game last season.
