On Saturday night, No. 1 Alabama showed why its the top team in the country, cruising to a 24-7 win over No. 3 Florida State at the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Though the game was tight through the first half, the Crimson Tide simply outclassed the Seminoles on both sides of the ball to pick up the important Week 1 victory.

After the game, FSU coach Jimbo Fisher shared his thoughts on what went wrong during Saturday night’s season opener:

On moving the ball vs. Alabama’s defense:

“We moved the ball very well in the first half and the first drive of the second half. We felt good at halftime about the way the game went. [We’re] disappointed in where we were, but felt [good] in what we were doing and how we were doing it, and we just lost the momentum.”

On special teams mistakes:

On keeping the score close in the final quarter:

“A couple times Alabama had a chance to put it away, and we kept them to a two-score game at 21-7; that’s only two plays away. You’re one or two drives — we just couldn’t make the plays. Their defense did a great job, and we just didn’t make the plays on our side of the ball to get us back in.”
