Joel Klatt explains why pressure is on Alabama defense in SEC Championship Game
Joel Klatt is looking for one area of Alabama’s team to step up big on Saturday against Georgia in the SEC Championship.
Klatt said on his show Thursday that the Tide don’t have to have an explosive offensive night, but it will need to be perfect on the defensive end to match the Bulldogs’ stout defense and contain its offense.
“Nick Saban knows that his team is going to have to play a near-flawless game,” Klatt said. “They’re going to have to be great on the defensive side. I mean really, really good on defense. The pass rush is going to have to affect Carson Beck. They’re going to have to get him off of his spot. You’ve gotta know where Bowers is. You’ve gotta understand that if you’re doubling bowers, McConkey’s probably getting targeted… The pressure for me is on Bama’s defense.”
Georgia hasn’t lost since the 2021 SEC Championship game against Alabama, and the Tide are looking to end the Bulldogs 29-game win streak.
Alabama is hoping to punch a ticket to the CFP, and a win in the SEC Championship would be crucial.
