Kalen DeBoer and his family arrived in Tuscaloosa on Friday, hours after the Washington head coach was named to the same position in Alabama following the retirement of Nick Saban.

DeBoer will have some key roles to fill on his staff — including defensive coordinator — over the coming weeks while looking to keep the team intact, with players surely set to take advantage of the 30-day transfer window that opened after Saban’s retirement.

But one important piece of the Huskies’ staff appears to be headed to the SEC with DeBoer. As you can see below, he was joined on the flight from Seattle by Courtney Morgan, who served in a general manager role at Washington and previously at Michigan under Jim Harbaugh:

DeBoer spoke highly of Morgan and his impact on the Washington program in an interview with The Athletic in September.

“He probably touches more people out there than anyone on our staff,” he told Ari Wasserman. “He’s constantly on the phones, constantly texting and communicating. He’s a major representative of our program and he does great communicating what we do to those people. His core values fit my core values. We wouldn’t be here without him.”
